How does it work?

Initial admission to the emergency shelter is first come, first serve. Once admitted into the program, individuals are assigned a spot in the program for 90 days, which can be extended on a case by case basis. In severe weather events, individuals may be admitted through the hypothermia program. Hypothermia assignments are only extended as conditions are met with no set length of stay. Guests in the emergency shelter program receive access to Open Doors case management, and a variety of specialized support services, such as healthcare. This is thanks to Open Doors' collaboration and operational partners. Call 540.705.1908 if you have questions regarding the shelter program. This number is not for emergencies and is not monitored 24/7.
Open Doors is ADA compliant and does not discriminate on any basis. Guests may be asked to undergo medical assessment to determine compatibility and appropriate accommodations.
