The Navigation Center
Project Overview
Current Name: The Navigation Center
Address: 1111 N. Main St., Harrisonburg, VA 22802
Expected Timeline: End of 2024
Services: The site will be home to a year-round low-barrier shelter for 72 single adults , and a daytime drop-in center that will consists of various health and human services.

The goal of the project is to provide safe and inclusive shelter, and to extend critical services to the greater Harrisonburg and Rockingham Community.
How it Works: The Navigation Center is an innovative public-private partnership between the City of Harrisonburg and Open Doors. The City of Harrisonburg purchased the property and is responsible for facilities maintenance. The City offers a reimbursable subsidy ($100,000) each contract year toward a $600,000 budget.

Open Doors will provide all services pertaining to the shelter, and will serve as the management agency responsible for organizing services through the daytime drop-in center. Open Doors will provide resource coordination (i.e., case management) to all shelter guests, and resource navigation to the greater community.
Operational Partners
Open Doors has worked to continue, and expand, partnerships to holistically care for those we serve. The following partners will provide services at The Navigation Center on a routine basis. Services vary from public to shelter-specific. A public schedule of services will be available when the facility is operational.
